Ever wondered if you have an inheritance from a long lost relative waiting for you. Or just rembering about an old insurance policy that you cancelled but never got a refund. Do you have money waiting for you?
There is a legitimate website you can go to and search for your name. I searched my name and didn’t find anything but I searched for someone else in my family and he had six things owed to him. Things like an old insurance company and Costco This site is Missingmoney.com
It doesn’t look like all states are participating but you put your name city and state in either it will show you if you have anything it will show you. My state is not participating but when I search my state it takes me to the website in Washington State that is participating and you just put your information in. I said earlier that I couldn’t find anything for myself but I searched another family member and they had 6 different items that were owed to them. 5 of them showed an amount of $0-$25 and one of them showed an amount of $50-$100. It also shows who owes it to them. You have to click on it to start the claim process. It wasn’t mine so I didn’t go any further than that. I found another source usa.gov/unclaimed-money that has several databases to search from. They have a link that will let you take you to the search site in your state, it also has a link to search unclaimed federal refund checks. You can check an old employer through the department of labor link, you can also check for pensions left behind at old employers. They have a lot of databases to search from, old life insurance policies to unclaimed bankruptcy funds. You will definitely want to check out usa.gov/unclaimed-money. Who knows you might have something waiting for you and it can’t hurt to check. Let me know if you find anything, I’m curious to find out.
