I love sweet tea so I make simple syrup in the summer for my iced tea (by the way I grew that mint), I like it so much better than sugar because you don’t have the layer of undissolved granules at the bottom of your glass. Simple Syrup is also used in alot of other drinks and cocktails and as a glaze for cakes and cookies. The batch I made today for iced tea is the thick syrup with a 1 to 1 ratio, you would want to adjust this ratio if you were making a simple syrup glaze for cakes and cookies.
All you need is equal parts of sugar and water, I put 2 cups granulated sugar and 2 cups water in this saucepan, slowly warm it up on the stove and stir often.
You know it’s done when the sugar has completely dissolved and it looks clear.
Let it cool and then pour into a bottle or jar, I just use an old salad dressing bottle. Keep it in the fridge, it last for a long time.
Super simple right? I’ve heard you can flavor it too with any kind of extract, I haven’t tried it but I’m sure it’s easy!
