Who’s heard of Monkey Bread before? I started making monkey bread at least 20 years ago and it is still a favorite in my house. The cinnamon and butter caramelize around the bread and makes it so gooey and delicious. Super easy to make, you can even get the kids involved in cutting up the dough. This isn’t my original recipe, it comes from Pillsbury.com but it’s still a hit whenever I make it and people always ask How to Make Monkey Bread. I’ll share the recipe with you here.

Here’s what you need.
1/2 cup granulated sugar
1 cup firmly packed brown sugar
1 teaspoon cinnamon
3/4 cup butter or margarine, melted
2 cans (16.3 oz each) Pillsbury® Grands!® Homestyle refrigerated buttermilk biscuits. Below is a picture if you’re not familiar with Pillsbury Grands. You could also use a similar store brand.
1/2 cup chopped walnuts if desired (I don’t usually add these, it’s up to you)
1/2 cup raisins, if desired (I don’t usually add these, it’s up to you)
1 large plastic Ziploc or food storage bag
Heat oven to 350°F. Lightly grease a bundt pan with shortening or baking spray.
How to make it:
In a large storage plastic food bag, mix granulated sugar and cinnamon. Separate dough into 16 biscuits; cut each biscuit into quarters. Mix sugar, cinnamon, and cut biscuits in the bag, shake really well to cover all the dough pieces. Arrange the coated dough pieces in the bundt pan, adding walnuts and raisins among the biscuit pieces (if you are using walnuts & raisins). If there is any cinnamon sugar left in the bag I sprinkle it over the top of the biscuits.

In a small pan melt, butter, and mix in the brown sugar, stir until it’s well incorporated. Pour the butter brown sugar mixture all over the top of the dough, letting it sink down into all the spaces between the dough.

Bake 30 to 40 minutes until golden brown and no longer doughy in the center. Cool in pan for 5 minutes. Turn upside down onto a serving plate, replace any biscuits that have stuck in the pan and pour the remainder of the buttery mixture over the top. Pull apart to serve, careful it will be warm.

Your house will smell amazing and it’s so delicious with cinnamon and caramelized sugar and butter. This is a huge hit for kids, I serve it when we have company. You could bring it somewhere as a dessert but you wouldn’t be able to serve it warm and that’s the best part. I’ve included links to almost everything you will need in case you weren’t sure. Happy Baking!!!
