Lemons and Limes are so versatile, I wanted to put together a list of 20 ways to use lemons and limes around the house. This doesn’t even count all the lemon and lime recipes for meals and desserts. Key Lime pie is my favorite. If you ever go to Key West, it is the southernmost tip of the Florida Keys. You have to get a slice of key lime pie. We had the most delicious authentic key lime pie there!!! We don’t get a lot of key limes all the way up north where we live so it was a treat.

Lemon and Lime Tips
If you just need a small amount of lemon or lime juice but don’t want to waste the whole thing. Instead of slicing it in half just puncture it and squeeze the juice out. Store in the fridge wrapped in plastic.
When you are juicing the whole fruit, roll it back and forth on the counter with the palm of your hand to release the juice from the segments inside.
Save the rinds in a plastic bag in the freezer so the next time you need lemon or lime zest and you don’t have any fresh, just grab the rinds from the freezer.

Lemon rinds can be used as kindling for a fire (they should be dried). They contain oils that help them burn longer and they smell amazing when they burn.
Lemon can be used to polish brass and copper. Cut a lemon in half, sprinkle with salt and rub over the surface you’re cleaning.

If you have used your grater for onions or garlic and can’t get rid of the smell. Cut a lemon or lime in half, grate the open side to freshen. Don’t throw away the grated lemon or lime bits, put them in your garbage disposal with cold running water. Run it until everything has been ground up.
This is one of my favorites
Lemon is delicious with fish. I put my fish fillet in foil, squeeze lemon over the top, throw the rind in with it. Lemon juice works if you don’t have fresh, sprinkle dried dill, salt, and pepper. Seal the foil package and bake on a cookie sheet at 350 until the flesh is firm. It steams with all the flavor inside the sealed foil packet.
Did someone burn popcorn in the microwave or does it just have a yucky smell? Cut a lemon into quarters, put it in a microwave-safe bowl of water on high for 2 minutes. Keep repeating if it’s a stubborn smell that won’t come out. If you don’t have a whole lemon use lemon juice in a bowl of water.
Save lemon and lime zest in a tightly covered glass jar in the refrigerator. Use it later to flavor fish or chicken.
