You want your house to smell good, you can try the sprays and plug-in devices but those are full of chemicals. The thought of your family breathing in all those toxic fumes, yuck! I do like to use candles but you have to be very careful if you have kids or pets. I’m envisioning my cat jumping up and catching her big fluffy tail on fire. I created this homemade natural air freshener to use up citrus peels and to make my house smell amazing without any chemicals
I love that this is all-natural
If you want something totally natural you need to try this super simple budget-friendly recipe to make homemade natural air freshener. Your house will smell fabulous. Put orange, lemon, or lime rinds in a saucepan with cinnamon sticks or just plain cinnamon powder and water. Bring to a simmer and leave it on low for a few hours. It smells like you are baking some kind of cinnamon bread or dessert. The smell is mouthwatering and it’s chemical-free.
Anytime you use oranges, lemons or limes just save the peels in a plastic bag in the freezer. Just pull a few out whenever you want to freshen your home, put it all together and simmer on the stove for a few hours. You can even experiment a little and try some nutmeg or cloves. Any of those really aromatic spices will work and it is so budget-friendly. Probably just a few pennies to make and when you are done it can go right into the compost bin. Everything in it is compostable.
It looks like kind of strange mixture but I guarantee you will love it, no chemicals or heavy aerosol sprays, that’s good for you and the planet. Here are more great natural cleaning ideas:
