Homemade Natural Air Freshener

You want your house to smell good, you can try the sprays and plug-in devices but those are chemicals that you and your family are breathing in and that’s not good. I do like to use candles but you have to be very careful if you have kids or pets, I can just see my cat jumping up and catching her big fluffy tail on fire.

If you want something totally natural you need to try this super simple budget-friendly recipe to make homemade natural air freshener, your house will smell fabulous. Put orange, lemon, or lime rinds in a saucepan with cinnamon sticks or just plain cinnamon powder and water. Bring to a simmer and leave it on low for a few hours. It smells like you are baking some kind of cinnamon bread or dessert, the smell is mouthwatering and it’s chemical-free.

Anytime you use oranges, lemons or limes just save the peels in a plastic bag in the freezer and then just pull a few out whenever you want to freshen your home, put it all together and simmer on the stove for a few hours, you can even experiment a little and try some nutmeg or cloves, any of those really aromatic spices will work and it is so budget-friendly, probably just a few pennies to make and when you are done it can go right into the compost bin, everything in it is compostable.

It looks like kind of strange mixture but I guarantee you will love it, no chemicals or heavy aerosol sprays, that’s good for you and the planet.

I always want my house to smell good, there are a few things that I cook that are notorious for stinking up the kitchen and the rest of the house. I have a few natural ways to help in my article Love curry but hate how the smell lingers in your house, or if you love brussel sprouts like we do but hate the smell you can read Get rid of brussel sprout smell when cooking.
